For twenty five years Baldwin Boxall has been at the forefront of the communications industry and is now widely recognised as being Europe’s leading independent manufacturer of Voice Alarm/Evacuation, Fire Telephones, Disabled Refuge Communication and Public Address Equipment. Continual product development has always been at the heart of our business philosophy, which is why our research and development
engineers have an outstanding reputation for creating new products, be they standard or bespoke. Our dedication to providing solutions to emergency communication needs and on-going commitment to customers, has led to the development of a sophisticated and versatile Emergency Voice Communication system;VIGIL OmniCare.
VIGIL OmniCare is a fully addressable emergency voice communication system that allows disabled refuge, fire telephones and disabled toilet alarm remote units
to be connected to just one system. It has been developed in accordance with BS5588, BS5839 part 9 and BS8300:2001 (for the Disabled Toilet Alarm).
The system has two main components; a Master Control Panel and the Remote units. The Master Control Panel is available in various options: 8~128 way. Control panels also function as slave panels when wired into a VIGIL OmniCare
system on the ring circuit loop. The Master Control Panel is normally wall mounted within a central control room, with additional panels at other locations for control of local areas, e.g. in a stairwell or fallback position. The remote units are supplied in four different styles: Disabled Refuge, Fire Telephone, Disabled
Toilet Alarm and combined Disabled Refuge/Fire telephone.
Master Control Panel
Full system monitoring for functionality is standard with VIGIL OmniCare and faults are reported at the Master Control Panels. The system has been designed with functionality and practicality equally in mind.
Disabled Refuge Remote
VIGIL OmniCare has fully addressable remotes to give greater flexibility and speed of identification during an emergency, meaning that OmniCare is the ideal solution for any size of installation.
Advanced Disabled Refuge Remote
The OmniCare Advance remote unit is specifically designed for use by a disabled person within a refuge area. It differs significantly to the standard OmniCare Refuge remotes, both in looks and operation.
Fire Telephone Remote
The OmniCare Fire Telephone remotes offer users full duplex communication to enable fire officers/building management to report the status of an emergency within a building quickly and efficiently. Overall this ensures that the occupants are evacuated with ease and less panic, keeping those controlling the evacuation fully informed at all times.
Combined Disabled Refuge/Fire Telephone Remote
Unique to the OmniCare range, this is a unit that has been specially designed to enable both a disabled remote and a Fire Telephone to be located at one single ‘call’ position.
Disabled Toilet Alarm
The Baldwin Boxall Disabled Toilet Alarm is fully compliant to BS8300:2001, which requires that all new disabled toilets are
fitted with an emergency toilet alarm. This system provides a compliant, reliable and easy to use disabled persons toilet
alarm.
Fire rated enhanced four core cable with a screen must be used for loops. Up to 200m cable run between Remote Units
and Master Control Panel as standard. A repeater unit must be used if distance between remote units exceeds 200m.
* Disabled Refuge, Fire Telephone, combined DRS/Fire Telephone and Toilet Alarm Units can be placed
on the same loop.Typically 20-30 remotes per loop.
* A ring circuit configuration must be used to wire the remotes.
* Repeaters are used to connect the Toilet Alarms to the system.
There is incidence of unusually high capacitance of MICC cable and we would ask you to down rate the distances as shown
below. The capacitance of MICC cable varies between manufacturers so if you do have to specify MICC cable and if the
runs are greater than 100 metres, you may wish to contact our technical team to ensure it is within tolerance.
* MICC lightweight four core with screen: 100m.
* MICC heavyweight four core with screen: 200m.
* Enhanced colour coded four core with screen: 200m (recommended by Baldwin Boxall).
